HOW TO APPLY

When you apply for a Foundation grant, you will begin both a process and a relationship:

The Foundation fundamentally endeavours not to be a 'hit and run' type of
funder – it looks to establish a longer-term relationship with the charitable organizations that it selects for donations or funding.

In that respect, the Paloma Foundation will take an interest in and monitor the activities of its selected charities and will try to add value, where possible, in addition to providing funding on an annual or on-going basis.

You are invited to send a letter on behalf of your registered charitable organization outlining your main purpose and activities as well as the specific project(s) requiring support.

After we review your letter, we will notify you if we are able to continue with the application.

If we continue the process, we will ask for a detailed formal proposal; your most recent financial statements; an on-site visit; and, a meeting with your organization's individual team for the proposed project along with your Executive Director and/or Director of Development.

The Foundation's staff will then review your proposal and prepare a recommendation to the Trustees of the Foundation. We will submit the proposal to the Trustees and advise you of the Trustees' decision on your application as soon as reasonably possible.

As a rule, the Paloma Foundation does NOT fund:

Organizations outside the geographic focus of underserved Toronto communities;
Organizations whose primary purpose is advocacy;
Organizations whose primary purpose is political activity;
Organizations whose primary purpose is to promote the spiritual teachings of any religion or religious body;
Court cases;
Scholarships and/or bursaries;
Special events such as conferences, annual campaigns, dinners, galas;
Activities to reduce or eliminate existing debt;
Research projects.
